It measures 7 inches across and 19-7/8 inches long, with open ends and a molded gasket.

Sizing and fit

Cartridge filters only work when the element seals correctly in the housing, which is why diameter, length and end style all matter as much as the square footage. This one is the single cartridge that fills the C500 and CF-50 housings, and the gasket is molded into the end rather than supplied loose, so there is nothing extra to fit and nothing to lose during a change.

Knowing when to replace

Clean a cartridge and the starting pressure should return close to where it was when the element was new. Once it does not, the media is loaded beyond recovery and the filter is running restricted from the first day of every cycle. Matted pleats, splits along the fold lines and end caps pulling away from the media are all the same message.

Getting the life out of it

Rinse between the pleats rather than across them, let the element dry fully before it goes back in, and keep a spare on hand so a cartridge can be soaked properly instead of hurried back into service wet.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0801/9568/2516/files/default_744a3ddb-2619-4880-9c02-98829d05f1e7.jpg?v=1788724044
https://www.activepoolsupply.com/products/50-sqft-filter-cartridge-star-clear-c500-pentair-purex-cf-50
