SCH 40 PVC

The Lasco 406-020 is a two inch schedule 40 PVC 90 degree elbow with slip sockets on both ends, the standard direction change fitting for pool and spa equipment plumbing.

Slip by slip

Both ends are sockets that solvent weld onto 2 in. SCH 40 pipe. There are no threads, so this fitting goes between two lengths of pipe rather than onto a threaded port. If you need to land on a pump or a valve with a male thread, you want an adapter, not this elbow.

Fitting it

Cut the pipe square and deburr the end, then prime and cement both the socket and the pipe per the solvent cement instructions, push the joint home and give it a quarter turn to spread the cement. Give it the cure time the cement calls for before the pump goes back on. A joint that was only dry fitted will separate under pressure.

Hard 90 or sweep

A hard 90 turns the water in a shorter distance than a sweep elbow and costs more head loss doing it. On a short run or a tight equipment pad that is a fair trade. On a long suction line, or a system where you are chasing pump efficiency, the sweep version of the same size is worth the extra room it needs.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0801/9568/2516/files/default_1c8156cc-0621-4e55-b3d3-176ce32aca9b.jpg?v=1788758498
