It uses electronic ignition and a digital control panel, and it is rated for indoor or outdoor installation.

What the 400K rating buys

Input rating is what decides how quickly a body of water comes up to temperature and how well it holds that temperature against cool nights and wind. At 400,000 BTU this is a serious heater, aimed at larger residential pools and light commercial water rather than a small backyard pool, where a smaller unit would be the better match.

Controls and ignition

Electronic ignition means there is no standing pilot burning fuel between calls for heat and nothing to relight after a windy night. The digital panel gives you a readable setpoint and a clear status, which makes diagnosing a fault far quicker than reading a mechanical thermostat and a pilot flame.

Plan the installation before you order

Three things decide whether this heater suits your site. It is the natural gas version, so confirm the gas type at the meter. It is rated for 0 to 2,000 ft. of elevation, and that ceiling is firm. And it should be connected by a licensed gas fitter, who will size the gas line, verify supply pressure and set up venting for an indoor or outdoor location.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0801/9568/2516/files/default_c23c0d38-1472-439e-aa5f-b543a01c432f.jpg?v=1788983090
https://www.activepoolsupply.com/products/lochinvar-energyrite-pool-heater-400kbtu-digital-cntrl-ng-ern-402
