Pool water enters at one end, travels the tube bundle over the burner, and leaves through the return header. The header is therefore a pressure part in constant contact with pool water, and it is what fails when the water chemistry has been wrong for a long stretch.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhen to replace it\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLow pH, high calcium or a heater run at too high a flow rate all attack the header. The symptoms are a weeping seam, a visible crack, or water in the burner tray with no obvious tube leak.
