The Shade Science Pool Buoy is a floating umbrella in black and white stripe. It needs nothing but 30 in. of water: no anchors, no hardware, no base on the deck. The 5 ft 7 in. canopy is UV resistant and adjustable, and five cup holders are built in.

How it works

The umbrella floats on the surface with a 6 lb weight hanging below it. That weight acts like a keel, counteracting wind and lean on the canopy so the umbrella stays upright. It is stable, and because it is not fixed to anything it drifts with you across the pool.

Setup

Assembly needs no tools. It works in pools, lakes and hot tubs, anywhere the water is at least 30 in. deep.
