About Pentair

Around two and a half thousand Pentair products: pumps and pump parts, filter parts and cartridges, heater parts, lights and niches, automation boards, valves and plumbing. The families you will see on the labels are IntelliFlo, SuperFlo, WhisperFlo and OptiFlo for pumps, Clean and Clear and Tagelus for filters, MasterTemp and Max-E-Therm for heat, IntelliBrite and GloBrite for light, IntelliChlor for salt, and EasyTouch or IntelliCenter for control.

Questions about Pentair

Six digits, an R, or EC in front: which is my Pentair number?

All three are Pentair numbers and which you have depends on how old the part is and who made it first. A bare six digit number is the modern house style and it is most of the catalogue. A number beginning with R belongs to the Rainbow and Sta-Rite lines Pentair bought, and it kept their numbering rather than reissuing it. EC in front is a prefix that appears on a number which also exists without it. Search whichever is stamped on your part, and if it finds nothing, try it without the prefix.

Is EC-348190 the same part as 348190?

In our experience of the catalogue, yes: both forms turn up for the same item, which is why searching one and then the other is worth doing before concluding we do not stock it. What the EC stands for is not stated on any product we carry, so we are not going to invent a meaning for it. Treat it as a prefix on the same number rather than as a different part, and check the photograph and the specification before ordering either way.

Pentair or Sta-Rite: which page do I want?

Go by what is cast into the machine, not by who owns the brand now. If the pump or filter says Sta-Rite, or names System 3, Max-E-Therm, Max-E-Glas, Dura-Glas or Posi-Flo, its parts are on the Sta-Rite page even though Pentair makes them today. If it says Pentair, or names IntelliFlo, SuperFlo, WhisperFlo, Clean and Clear or MasterTemp, you are on the right page here. Some assemblies genuinely span both, and where that is so the product says which machines it fits.

Where do I find the model on a Pentair machine?

On the label the manufacturer put there, which is nearly always still readable when the stamping on a part is not. A pump carries it on the motor's data plate on the back or the top. A filter carries it on a sticker on the tank, usually facing the equipment pad. A heater carries it inside the front panel, on the door or on the frame beside the gas valve. Photograph it before you start taking anything apart, because that label is the fastest route back to the right part.
