Product details

The Pentair Amerlite EC-602128 is a 500 watt, 120 volt incandescent underwater light for inground pools, supplied with a 50 ft cord and a stainless steel face ring.

Build

Pentair lists a prismatic tempered glass lens for light diffusion, a heat-sensing cutoff for low water protection, and a design that lets you change the bulb without lowering the water level. The face ring is held on by a stainless steel clamp. Snap-on lens covers in blue, red, green and amber, and plastic snap-on face rings, are sold separately. The light is UL listed and CSA certified.

Installation and service

Because it is a 120 volt fixture, Pentair requires a GFCI protected lighting circuit and a wet niche set so the top edge of the lens is at least 18 inches below the water surface. Pentair says to use its own wet niches for correct bonding and grounding, and never to run the light for more than 10 seconds out of water. The lamp is a 500 watt, 120 volt R-40 floodlamp with a medium base (Pentair 79102100), and Pentair calls for a new lens gasket (79101600) every time the light is opened.

Before you order

The EC- prefix marks Pentair's e-commerce packaged version of the light. This is the 120 volt model. The 12 volt Amerlites use different lamps and need a transformer, so the two are not interchangeable.
