The Pentair IntelliFlo VS+SVRS is a variable speed inground pool pump with a Safety Vacuum Release System built in. It combines variable drive technology, onboard digital intelligence and a permanent magnet motor, the motor technology used in hybrid cars, to cut pump energy use by up to 90% compared with a single speed pump.

The safety system

SVRS monitors for a drain blockage and shuts the pump off automatically when it detects one. It works alongside compliant drain covers as an entrapment safeguard, and this model was the first pool pump to build it in.

Variable speed, controlled at the pump

Filtration runs slowly and quietly for most of the day, with higher speeds reserved for cleaning and backwashing. Schedules and speeds are programmed on the pump's own digital control, so no external controller is required, and it can also run under Pentair automation.

Pentair's savings figure is based on a variable speed pump compared with a single speed pump running 12 hours per day at an average of $0.16 per kWh in a 20,000 gallon pool. Actual savings vary with pump horsepower, RPM, plumbing size and length, pump model, service factor and other hydraulic factors.

What is the difference between EC-011057 and 011057?
Both are Pentair's IntelliFlo VS+SVRS. Pentair keeps part numbers that begin with EC- for online sale and sells 011057 through dealers and pool stores. DOE's certification database lists both at 3.95 total horsepower and a weighted energy factor of 6.9. This listing is EC-011057, which carries Pentair's online warranty.
How long is the warranty on an IntelliFlo VS+SVRS bought online?
Two years, parts only, from the date of purchase. Pentair's warranty page gives most products bought on the internet one year, parts only, and names its IntelliFlo SVRS pumps as the exception at two years. Pentair does not cover labor on internet purchases.
Can I turn off the SVRS on an IntelliFlo VS+SVRS?
No. Pentair says the built-in safety vacuum release cannot be switched off. The menu only sets what happens after a blockage stop: by default the pump restarts after two minutes, adjustable from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, or it waits for someone to restart it by hand. Pentair warns that with auto restart on, ten failed soft starts lead to a full prime during which the SVRS is off. It says to check local codes before changing the setting.
What breaker does an IntelliFlo VS+SVRS need?
A two pole 20 A device at the electrical panel, by Pentair's manual. The pump takes 230 VAC, single phase, at 50 or 60 Hz, draws up to 3,200 W and is rated at 16 full load amps. It has no 115 V option.
