The Hayward TriStar VS W3SP3202VSP is a 1.85 HP variable speed in ground pool pump built around a permanent magnet, totally enclosed fan cooled motor. It is ENERGY STAR rated and carries a Weighted Energy Factor of 12.9 at 115V and 8.3 at 230V, which puts it among the most efficient pumps in its class. This model is wired for 230V single phase.

Hydraulics that cover most pads

Hayward designed the wet end to replace most high performance pumps up to 1.5 HP full rate or 2.0 HP max rate, so it slots into the place of the typical single speed pump on a residential pool. Running at reduced speed for the bulk of the day is where the energy savings come from, and the permanent magnet motor stays quiet while it does it.

Installation details

Union connections are standard, so the pump joins existing union plumbing without new fittings. Conduit entries on the side and rear take both the high voltage supply and low voltage control connections, which keeps the wiring tidy whether it stands alone or ties into an automation system. The strainer basket has no internal ribs, so debris shakes out cleanly, and the see-through cover shows when it needs emptying.
