Product details

The Hayward SPX0714BA is the genuine key, cover and handle assembly for the SP0714T Vari-Flo XL top mount valve, the multiport valve on Hayward Pro Series and other top mount sand filters. It is effectively the whole upper half of the valve: a fully assembled cover with the handle, handle pin, spring and washers, plus the rotor and spider gasket underneath.

The symptom it fixes

Water leaking out of the backwash port. When the spider gasket or rotor wears, the valve can no longer seal the ports off from one another and water finds its way to backwash while the filter runs. Replacing the assembly restores the seal.

Fit

It fits the SP0714T (SP-714) valve on Hayward top mount filters including the S166T, S180T, S190T, S210T, S220T, S230T, S244T and S270T.

Before you order

The cover o-ring, part SPX0714L, is not included. It is worth ordering alongside so the valve goes back together with a fresh seal.

Water is running out of the backwash port while filtering. Will this fix it?
Yes. That is the symptom this assembly addresses. It replaces the rotor and spider gasket along with the cover and handle.
Is the cover o-ring included?
No. The SPX0714L cover o-ring is sold separately. Order it at the same time if yours is flattened or cracked.
Will it fit my Hayward sand filter?
It fits the SP0714T Vari-Flo XL top mount valve used on Hayward Pro Series and top mount sand filters, including the S166T, S180T, S190T, S210T, S220T, S230T, S244T and S270T.
