Product details

Hayward SPX0715C is the key and stem assembly for the 2 in. Vari-Flo multiport valve used on SP0715 and SP0716 models. It is molded in Noryl and supplied as the rotor and stem together.

What the key does

The key is the rotating part inside a multiport valve. As the handle moves between filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate and closed, the key covers and uncovers the ports underneath it. Everything the valve does depends on that part sealing cleanly against the valve body.

Symptoms of a worn key

The usual sign is water leaving through the waste line while the valve is set to filter, or a valve that seems to sit between positions. When the key face wears, flow crosses between ports and no amount of handle adjustment will stop it.

Naming

Hayward documentation refers to these valves as SP0715 and SP0716, and elsewhere as SP715 and SP716. Both refer to the same 2 in. Vari-Flo side mount valve.

The Hayward 2 in. Vari-Flo multiport valves, SP0715 and SP0716. Hayward parts listings also write these as SP715 and SP716; they are the same valves.

What is it made of?
