The Hayward SPX0715G is the replacement label plate for the 2 in six position Vari-Flo backwash valves, models SP715 and SP716. It is the genuine Hayward part, and it takes the place of older labels printed with the code SP0715G11.
Why a label matters
A multiport valve does six different things depending on where the handle sits, and the label is the only thing telling you which is which. Once sun and chemicals have faded it away, the valve gets left in the wrong position after a backwash, which is how a pool ends up circulating unfiltered or draining to waste unnoticed.
The six positions
Filter is the normal running position, sending water through the filter and back to the pool. Backwash reverses the flow to flush trapped debris out the waste line, and Rinse follows it to settle the media before returning to Filter. Waste bypasses the filter entirely, for lowering the water level or vacuuming debris straight out. Recirculate returns water to the pool without passing through the filter, and Closed stops flow through the valve for servicing.
