The Hayward SPX0710MA is the threaded sight glass for Vari-Flo multiport valves, supplied with its O-ring. It is the genuine Hayward replacement.
Plastic is correct
The original sight glass on these valves was made of glass. Hayward makes the current part in plastic, so if you pull a glass one out and a plastic one arrives, nothing has gone wrong. Plastic is what the factory ships now.
Where it goes
It threads directly into the valve body, and the included O-ring makes the seal. It covers the Vari-Flo 1-1/2" top mount valves SP0710X, SP711, SP711-13, SP711-20 and SP712, the 2" side mount SP715 and SP716, and the 2" DE multiport SP0740DE.
Why it matters
A clouded or cracked sight glass takes away the one easy read you have on a backwash. With a clear one in place you can see the dirty water run and stop the cycle as soon as it clears, instead of guessing and wasting water.
