Product details

The Hayward SPX0704D is the valve key gasket for the Hayward Vari-Flo SP0704, a 1-1/2 in. 4-position multiport valve. It is the genuine Hayward part.

What it does

Inside a multiport valve, the key turns with the handle to line water up with the right port. The key gasket seals between the ports so each handle setting sends water only where it should. When the gasket wears or tears, water slips past it, and a common sign is water running out of the waste line while the valve is set to filter.

Before you order

Check the model on the valve. The SPX0704D is for the SP0704, and other Hayward valves use other gaskets: the SP0710X62 VariFlo valve for sand filters, for example, lists SPX0710XD. Turn the pump off before opening the valve, and loosen the cover screws slowly and evenly because the valve spring is under compression.

Will the SPX0704D fit my Hayward valve?
The Hayward SPX0704D fits the Vari-Flo SP0704, the 1-1/2 in. 4-position multiport valve. Check the model number on the valve before ordering, because other Vari-Flo valves use different gaskets.
Is SPX0704D the same as SPX0710XD?
No. Hayward lists SPX0710XD as the valve seat gasket for its SP0710X62 VariFlo valve for sand filters, while SPX0704D is the key gasket for the SP0704.
How do I know the SPX0704D key gasket is worn?
The usual sign is water running out of the waste or backwash line while the valve is set to filter. That means water is slipping past the key gasket between ports, and a new SPX0704D restores the seal.
What should I know before taking the SP0704 valve apart?
