Product details

The Hayward SPX0714CA is the key seal diverter assembly for the SP0714T Vari-Flo XL, the 1-1/2 in. top mount multiport valve found on Hayward Pro Series and SandMaster sand filters. The spider gasket comes molded into the bottom of the diverter, and because Hayward does not sell that gasket separately, this assembly is the way to replace it.

When to replace it

A worn spider gasket lets water bypass inside the valve. The usual signs are water trickling out the waste line or returning to the pool unfiltered while the handle is set to Filter. Swapping the diverter restores the seal between positions.

Confirm the match

Remove the key cover handle assembly and look at the underside of the old diverter. The matching part has SP0714C stamped into it. This is the genuine Hayward plastic diverter with the seal already in place.

Can I buy just the spider gasket?
No. On this valve Hayward molds the spider gasket into the diverter, so the gasket only comes as part of this key seal assembly.
How do I know this is the right diverter?
Pull the handle assembly and look at the bottom of the diverter. SP0714C is stamped there on the matching part, and the valve itself is the 1-1/2 in. SP0714T Vari-Flo XL.
Which filters use this valve?
The SP0714T is the top mount valve on Hayward Pro Series sand filters such as the S180T, S210T, S220T and S244T, and on SandMaster SM1700T, SM1900T and SM2300T filters.
What symptoms point to a worn key seal?
Water running out the waste line or back to the pool while the valve is set to Filter, or a handle that will not seat cleanly in each position.
