The Hayward MaxFlo VS, model W3SP2303VSP, is a 1.65 HP 230V variable speed pool pump. It brings variable speed to the MaxFlo body that has been on pads for decades, which is the whole appeal: it is a drop-in for a traditional MaxFlo rather than a redesign of the equipment pad.

Where the savings come from

A single speed pump only knows full speed, so every hour of filtration costs the same whether the pool needs it or not. Running slower for longer moves the same water for a fraction of the power, and Hayward puts the reduction at up to 80 percent against a single speed pump. Because the pump costs less than the larger variable speed models, the payback arrives sooner.

Motor and controls

The motor is a permanent magnet, totally enclosed fan cooled design, which is what makes the efficiency and the low noise achievable. The control interface is fully programmable and rotates to four positions, or it can be removed and mounted on a wall where it is easier to reach and read.

Working with automation

It is ENERGY STAR certified and compliant with Title 20 and APSP 15, and it is eligible for local utility rebates. Install it stand-alone, tie it into Hayward automation including OmniLogic, or drive it from a competing control system through relay control.

Will this fit where my old MaxFlo was?
That is the design intent. MaxFlo VS is a drop-in upgrade for the traditional MaxFlo family, so the plumbing and pad layout carry over.
