The Pentair WhisperFlo EC-015583 is a single speed 1.1 THP pool pump with a totally enclosed fan cooled motor, wired for 115 or 230V. It belongs to the updated WhisperFlo line, the single speed pool pumps built around NEMA Premium Efficient motors, and it meets the DOE pump rule.

The motor

TEFC means the motor is fully enclosed and cooled by an external fan rather than drawing air through the windings. Pentair pairs that proprietary motor with a balanced flow hydraulic design, so the pump moves water efficiently and runs at a lower operating cost than the older single speed units it replaces.

On the pad

Suction and discharge are 2 in. NPT. The Cam and Ramp lid comes off without tools so the strainer basket can be inspected and cleared in a minute.

Will the WhisperFlo EC-015583 move as much water as my old 1 HP WhisperFlo?
No, by Pentair's own chart. Its 2021 brochure draws the new 1.1 THP WhisperFlo on the same curve as the old full rated 1/2 HP WhisperFlo, below the old 3/4 HP and 1 HP models, which Pentair lists as not DOE compliant. Pentair's manual gives about 53 GPM at 50 feet of head.
What voltage does the WhisperFlo EC-015583 run on?
115 V or 208 to 230 VAC, single phase, 60 Hz, by Pentair. The motor is a 1.1 total horsepower NEMA Premium efficient TEFC. Pentair's manual says to read the volts, hertz, amps and phase on the motor nameplate and to wire it to the National Electrical Code.
What size are the ports on the WhisperFlo EC-015583?
2 inch NPT on both the suction and the discharge, by Pentair. Its manual asks for a straight run into the suction port of at least five pipe diameters, 10 inches on 2 inch pipe, and no 90 degree elbow threaded straight into the inlet or outlet.
