The Pentair WhisperFlo WFK-12 is a 3 HP full rated pool pump built for three phase power at 208/230/460V, plumbed in 2 inch.

Full rated, three phase

Full rated means the pump makes its stated horsepower without leaning on the service factor, so it moves noticeably more water than an up rated pump wearing the same number. Three phase is the supply found in commercial equipment rooms, and this pump will not run on a single phase feed.

The hydraulics

The WhisperFlo design moves water more efficiently and more quietly than competing pumps of the same size. On a pump running long hours, that difference shows up on the power bill and in the plant room noise level.

Will the WhisperFlo 011644 run on single phase power?
No. Pentair lists 011644 as the WFK-12, a 3 HP three phase WhisperFlo for 208 to 230 V or 460 V at 60 Hz. It draws 9.8 to 9.4 A at 208 to 230 V and 4.7 A at 460 V. A single phase supply needs a single phase pump.
How do I check the rotation on a three phase WhisperFlo?
Once it is wired, Pentair's manual says to switch the power on and straight back off, watch the motor fan or shaft as it slows to a stop, and make sure it turns the way the arrow on the pump points. The same manual says three phase motors need external overload protection.
How much water does a 3 HP WhisperFlo 011644 move at 50 feet of head?
About 153 GPM, read from curve J in Pentair's WhisperFlo manual, which is the curve Pentair's page for 011644 names. The same curve starts at about 102 feet with no flow and ends near 37 feet at 170 GPM.
What is a WFK-12 WhisperFlo?
