Product details

The S.R. Smith F4H-102 is a pair of 26 in. Figure 4 pool handrails bent from 1.90 in. OD type 304 stainless steel tubing with a .049 in. wall. Each rail stands 29 in. above the deck and is 26 in. wide.

What it is

The Figure 4 is a deck mounted handrail with both legs set into anchor sockets, its tubing formed in three 6 in. radius bends. F4H-102 is the smaller of S.R. Smith's two Figure 4 sizes. The 30 in. rails are F4H-100, with a .065 in. wall, and F4H-101, with a .049 in. wall.

Fit and installation

The legs go into anchors set 8 in. apart center to center, and S.R. Smith's placement table gives a 22 in. anchor setback for the Figure 4. Anchors and escutcheons are sold separately; S.R. Smith recommends the AS-100B anchor and EP-100F escutcheon for 1.90 in. tubing. On new work, anchors are set flush with the deck, wedge facing away from the pool, and bonded to the deck rebar to NEC or local code. To replace a rail, loosen the anchor wedges, lift the old rail out and set the new one in.

Before you order

This rail is for residential pools, because S.R. Smith calls for at least a .065 in. wall on commercial installations. It is also not the choice for salt water: S.R. Smith sets 316L marine grade as the minimum there, ordered by adding -MG to the part number, or the white salt pool version, F4H-102-VW.

Is F4H-102 one rail or two?
Two. S.R. Smith sells the F4H-102 as a pair of 26 in. Figure 4 handrails. The single rail is part F4H-102S.
Will the F4H-102 fit my existing anchors?
It fits anchor sockets for 1.90 in. OD tubing set 8 in. apart center to center, the spacing S.R. Smith gives for its Figure 4. To swap rails, loosen the wedge in each anchor, lift the old rail out and set the new one in.
Do I need the 26 in. or the 30 in. Figure 4?
Measure the rail you are replacing. F4H-102 stands 29 in. above the deck and is 26 in. wide. The 30 in. Figure 4 rails, F4H-100 with a .065 in. wall and F4H-101 with a .049 in. wall, stand 32 in. tall and 30 in. wide.
Can I use F4H-102 on a salt water pool?
S.R. Smith sets 316L marine grade as the minimum for salt pools, and F4H-102 is type 304. For salt water, order the marine grade version by adding -MG to the part number, or the white salt pool rail, F4H-102-VW.
