Product details

The S.R. Smith 50-770 is a pair of deck mounted stair rails in 304 grade stainless steel, sized for deck anchors set 32 in. apart center to center. The rails anchor into the pool deck beside the entry steps.

Construction

Each rail is 1.90 in. outside diameter tubing with a .049 in. wall, formed with 6 in. radius bends. S.R. Smith builds this rail in 304 stainless or in 316L marine grade, which adds -MG to the part number, and offers polished stainless and powder coated finishes.

Getting the fit right

Measure center to center between the two anchors that hold each rail. The 50-770 is the 32 in. model and needs at least 6 in. of anchor setback. S.R. Smith also makes 50-901 for 30 in., 50-902 for 36 in., 50-766 for 40 in. and 50-903 for 42 in. To swap old rails, loosen each anchor wedge, lift the rail out and tighten the new one into the same anchors.

Before you order

Anchors and escutcheons are separate. For 1.90 in. tubing S.R. Smith suggests the AS-100B 4 in. bronze, AS-100B-SS 4 in. residential stainless, AS-104MG 4 in. commercial stainless or AS-100P universal plastic anchor, with the EP-100F 4.5 in. round escutcheon. New anchors in an existing deck go into a core drilled hole at least 4 in. across, or 5 in. for the universal anchor, set flush with the wedge facing away from the pool, bonded to the deck rebar per code and set in epoxy or cement of at least 3,000 PSI.
