The Unicel C-6960 is the replacement filter cartridge for the Pentair Quad DE 60. Each element carries 15 square feet of 8 ounce DE media across 42 pleats, and the filter takes four of them.

A Quad DE 60 runs on four cartridges working together. Replacing one and leaving three tired elements in place means the new cartridge takes the load and clogs early, so it is normally worth changing the full set at once.

Dimensions and fit

The element measures 6-1/4 inches in outside diameter and 20-3/4 inches long. Both end caps are open with molded gaskets and a 3 inch inner diameter, matching Pentair part 178654. The same cartridge appears in cross reference lists as XLS-621, PC-1961, FC-1961 and 60151.

Why DE media

DE media filters finer than a plain pleated cartridge, which is the whole point of the Quad design. You get the water clarity of a DE filter without the grid and manifold assembly of a traditional DE tank, and the elements come out and go back in like cartridges.
