Product details

The Gladon PNP192XL is a peel and stick above ground pool cove, supplied in 48 inch sections. It is the piece that sits in the angle where the pool wall meets the floor, under the liner.

What a cove is for

The cove keeps the liner from slipping out beneath the pool wall. Without it, the liner is pulled hard into a sharp corner, and that corner is where the stretching and premature wear starts. A proper cove takes years off the wear on a new liner.

Foam instead of sand

A cove can be shaped by hand from sand and dirt, but it washes out and it holds moisture against the metal wall. This one is preformed Ethafoam, chemically neutral and safe with every pool liner, in a 3 inch by 4 inch profile. It is light, flexible, resists breaking and does not trap damp against the wall, which slows corrosion of the wall and the fittings. The high density foam holds its shape over time.

How many and when

Each piece is 48 inches, and the number needed follows the pool size: 10 for a 12 ft round, 12 for a 15 ft round, 15 for an 18 ft round, 19 for a 24 ft round, 22 for a 27 to 28 ft round, 24 for a 30 ft round and 26 for a 33 ft round. Ovals run from 13 for a 12 by 16 up to 27 for a 21 by 41. Install the cove around the bottom inside circumference of the wall before you spread the sand and before the new liner goes in.

How many sections does my pool need?

It depends on the size. As a guide, a 12 ft round takes 10, a 15 ft round takes 12, an 18 ft round takes 15, a 24 ft round takes 19, a 27 to 28 ft round takes 22 and a 33 ft round takes 26. For ovals, a 12 by 20 takes 14, a 15 by 30 takes 19, an 18 by 33 takes 22 and a 21 by 41 takes 27.

When do I install it?

Before the liner goes in, and before the sand is spread. Run it around the bottom inside circumference of the pool wall first.

Why not just use sand and dirt?

A hand built sand cove can be made, but it washes out and holds moisture against the wall. Foam cove keeps its shape, does not wash away and keeps damp away from the metal, which reduces corrosion.

Will it work with my liner?

Yes. The foam is chemically neutral and is made to be compatible with all swimming pool liners.
