The Gladon PNP192XL is a peel and stick above ground pool cove, supplied in 48 inch sections. It is the piece that sits in the angle where the pool wall meets the floor, under the liner.
What a cove is for
The cove keeps the liner from slipping out beneath the pool wall. Without it, the liner is pulled hard into a sharp corner, and that corner is where the stretching and premature wear starts. A proper cove takes years off the wear on a new liner.
Foam instead of sand
A cove can be shaped by hand from sand and dirt, but it washes out and it holds moisture against the metal wall. This one is preformed Ethafoam, chemically neutral and safe with every pool liner, in a 3 inch by 4 inch profile. It is light, flexible, resists breaking and does not trap damp against the wall, which slows corrosion of the wall and the fittings. The high density foam holds its shape over time.
How many and when
Each piece is 48 inches, and the number needed follows the pool size: 10 for a 12 ft round, 12 for a 15 ft round, 15 for an 18 ft round, 19 for a 24 ft round, 22 for a 27 to 28 ft round, 24 for a 30 ft round and 26 for a 33 ft round. Ovals run from 13 for a 12 by 16 up to 27 for a 21 by 41. Install the cove around the bottom inside circumference of the wall before you spread the sand and before the new liner goes in.
