Why geotextile instead of foam
Traditional foam padding cushions the floor but gives way to anything sharp underneath. Armor Shield is a polypropylene geotextile blend, and it is built to minimize the cuts and punctures a liner takes from rocks, roots, grass and even glass working their way up through the base.
Two things it does besides protect
The pad reduces convective heat loss through the floor of the pool, and it gives swimmers a more comfortable surface underfoot than bare sand or packed soil.
Order it with the liner. Once the liner is filled, the only way to add a floor pad is to drain and pull the liner back out.
