Product details
Armor Shield is a floor pad for above ground pools, cut here for an 18' round. It lays between the vinyl liner and the sand or soil base it sits on, and its job is to stop what is underneath the pool from working its way into the liner.
Geotextile rather than foam
Traditional floor padding is foam. Armor Shield is a polypropylene geotextile blend instead, a material chosen for puncture resistance rather than cushioning alone. Rocks, roots, grass and even glass in the base are what tear an above ground floor, and the geotextile is what stands between them and the vinyl.
Two side benefits
The pad also slows convective heat loss through the floor of the pool, and it gives swimmers a softer, more even surface to stand on than sand alone.
Fit it during the build, before the liner goes in. Once the pool is up and full, adding a floor pad means taking the liner back out.
