Product details

Deck-O-Foam 1413030 is Deck-O-Seal's closed cell foam expansion joint filler in a 1/2 in. thick, 3 in. wide, 50 ft roll. It forms the joint between a new pool deck and the coping or the next slab, and gives the sealant a clean slot to fill.

How it works

The strip is set against the existing concrete or form before the new slab goes in. Once the concrete is finished, the scored half inch along the top tears away, leaving an even channel ready for Deck-O-Seal or another cold applied sealant. The foam under it controls how much sealant the joint takes and keeps the sealant from bonding to the bottom of the joint.

The material

Polyethylene foam with closed cells, so it does not soak up water or stain the concrete. It holds up to sunlight and pool chemicals, stays flexible from -40 to 160 F and bends to follow curved deck edges.

How is Deck-O-Foam installed?
Tape or fasten it against the coping, the old slab or the form ahead of the new pour, keep its top level with the finished surface, then tear off the pre-scored strip and fill the slot with sealant.
Which thickness do I need, 1/4 or 1/2 in.?
Match the width of the joint you want. The 1413030 leaves a 1/2 in. wide joint; Deck-O-Foam 1411030 is the 1/4 in. version in a 100 ft roll.
Can I use it to re-seal an old joint?
Deck-O-Foam is mainly set in place when a slab is poured. In an existing joint, Kool-Rod backer rod pressed into the gap is the usual way to set the sealant depth.
Will sealant stick to the foam?
No, and that is intended. The foam is a bond breaker, so the sealant bonds to the concrete on each side and can stretch freely.
