Product details

Epoxybond Pool Putty is a two part, hand moldable epoxy putty made for concrete and gunite pool repairs. This is the black version in a 14 oz cartridge.

Repairs with the pool full

The putty hardens under water, which is the point of it. Cracks, leaks and chipped plaster can be dealt with without draining the pool and without waiting for a surface to dry. Once cured it will not shrink or sag, so the patch stays where you put it.

Mixing and applying

The cartridge form gives an equal 1 to 1 ratio, so you cut off what you need, knead the resin and hardener together until the color is uniform, and press the putty firmly into the repair. For underwater work, mix above the water first, and make sure the area is clear of loose material, slime and algae. Above water, clean off grease and rust and roughen the surface with a wire brush or sandpaper, then smooth the finished patch with a wet sponge.

Getting a lasting repair

Apply the putty at least 1/16 in. thick. Thinner than that and the repair has nothing to hold on to. Once it is in place, leave it undisturbed until it has cured completely.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Do I have to drain the pool?
No. Epoxybond Pool Putty hardens under water, so leaks and cracks can be repaired with the pool full.
How do I mix it?
Cut equal amounts of resin and hardener from the cartridge and knead them together until the putty is a uniform color. For underwater repairs, do the mixing above water first.
How do I prepare the surface?
Underwater, the area has to be free of loose particles, slime and algae. Above water, clean off grease, loose particles and rust, then roughen the surface with a wire brush or sandpaper for better adhesion.
How thick does the repair need to be?
At least 1/16 in. Press it firmly into the damage, and above water you can smooth it with a wet sponge. Then leave it alone until it has cured completely.
