Product details

The S.R. Smith 400-7000AX is the LiftOperator Intelligent 4 button controller for the aXs2 pool lift. The aXs2 parts list names it as the 4 Button Controller, AXS2.

What it does

The LiftOperator runs every movement of the lift, and its touchpad arrows match the hand control: up, down, left and right, one movement at a time. Three cables plug into the bottom. The largest port is the hand control, connector 1 is the motor cable with the red stripe, and connector 2 is the actuator cable with the green stripe. The battery pack sits on top of the box.

Indicators and safety

Battery LEDs glow green above 50 percent, amber below 50 and red below 25 percent, and at red the lift must not be used until the battery is charged. The red emergency stop button halts all movement and sounds an alert until it is turned clockwise to reset. A service LED lights after 120 battery swaps, about every 4 months, and the USB port downloads a performance log of about 7,600 events.

Choosing the right version

This is the standard version. Since January 2, 2018, S.R. Smith lifts bound for California use the CEC compliant BC versions of the LiftOperator battery, charger and control box, and those BC parts do not interchange with the standard LiftOperator parts. The aXs2 BC controller is part 400-7000AX-BC. Check the lift serial number before you order a battery, charger or control box.

Which lift is the 400-7000AX for?
The aXs2. Its parts list names 400-7000AX as the 4 Button Controller for the aXs2. The PAL2 lists use a different 4 button control, 400-7000.
How do I know the control box is bad?
The S.R. Smith troubleshooting steps say to charge the battery and try a second fully charged battery. If the lift still will not raise, lower or rotate, replace the control box.
My lift is in California. Is this the right controller?
Since January 2, 2018, S.R. Smith lifts bound for California use the CEC compliant BC versions of the LiftOperator battery, charger and control box, and those BC parts do not interchange with the standard LiftOperator parts. The BC version for the aXs2 is part 400-7000AX-BC.
What does the service light mean?
It lights after the battery pack has been removed and replaced 120 times, about every 4 months. Do the maintenance in the manual, then reset it with a FAT formatted USB stick in the port on the bottom.
