Product details

The S.R. Smith LLS-6 is the 6 step size of the ladder S.R. Smith calls its 12-Inch Commercial Dock Ladder, which is also built with 4 or 5 steps. Frames and steps are polished type 304 stainless steel, and S.R. Smith describes the ladder as suitable for commercial use in most geographic areas.

Construction

The frames are 1.90 in. OD tubing with a .065 in. wall. They lean against the top edge of the dock and angle down at about 5 degrees, and white rubber bumpers cap the lower ends. The steps are a nominal 3 in. by 20 in., spaced 12 in. apart, and each one holds a replaceable black non-skid tread insert.

Mounting

A 1/4 in. by 2 in. by 15 in. keyhole tie down plate in polished 304 stainless is welded to the frame. Its keyholes drop over the heads of bolts set in the dock, which locks the ladder in place, and lifting the ladder releases it. Mounting bolts are not included.

Dimensions

On the S.R. Smith drawing the 6 step ladder reaches 73 in. below the top of the dock, the handrails stand 24.5 in. above it, and the overall length is 97.5 in. For saltwater pools S.R. Smith also builds this ladder in marine grade stainless as the LLS-6-MG. The ladder ships by freight.

Are the mounting bolts included?
No. S.R. Smith does not include mounting bolts. The keyhole plate fits over the heads of bolts set in the dock, so plan to have those in place before installation.
Can the ladder be taken out?
Yes. The keyholes in the tie down plate lock the ladder over the bolt heads, and lifting the ladder frees it, so it can be removed from the deck when needed.
How far does the 6 step ladder reach?
S.R. Smith's drawing shows 73 in. from the top of the dock to the bottom of the frames, with the handrails rising 24.5 in. above the deck, for an overall length of 97.5 in.
Is it suitable for a saltwater pool?
This LLS-6 is type 304 stainless and is not marked salt friendly. S.R. Smith makes a marine grade version of the same ladder, the LLS-6-MG, which is the one to look at for salt water.
