The Unicel UHD-SR70 is the replacement cartridge element for the Sta-Rite Posi-Flo II PTM TX-70 filter. It measures 8-11/16 inches outside diameter by 18-3/16 inches long and drops straight into the tank in place of the original element.
On the square footage
You will see this cartridge listed at both 70 and 72 square feet. The 70 is the model designation, TX-70, and it is how the filter itself is sold. The 72 is a media area figure that appears in the same manufacturer data. Either way it is the correct element for that tank, and the physical dimensions above are what determine the fit.
When to change it
Cartridges are cleaned, not replaced, until cleaning stops working. Once a full soak and rinse no longer brings the pressure back down, or the pleats have torn, or the end caps have started to pull away from the media, the element is finished. Running past that point costs you flow, shortens pump life and lets dirt straight back to the pool.
