Two cartridges, one filter

The S8M500 runs a large element and a small one together. This listing is the small cartridge. The large one is a separate part number, and it is worth changing the pair at the same time so both elements load and clean at the same rate.

When to replace rather than wash

Cartridges are washable, but not forever. Once a thorough clean no longer brings filter pressure back down near where it starts after a change, the media is loaded past recovery. Torn, matted or collapsed pleats are the other clear signal, and no amount of washing gets those back.
