The Pentair 08650-0022 is the hinged weir door assembly for Sta-Rite and SwimQuip U-3 skimmers. It is the genuine Pentair OEM part, molded to the original specification so it fits without filing or adjustment.

One piece by design

The weir door and its vertical hinge strip are molded as a single assembly. They are not meant to come apart. Keeping them together is what gives the door its structural strength and its consistent movement in the water.

Sizes and markings

The weir body measures 8-1/2 in. long by 5-1/8 in. wide. The hinge strip is 8-1/4 in. long by 13/16 in. wide and carries five holes in two rows. If you want to confirm the match before ordering, check the old part: the weir body is marked PAT. 270235 and 8650-4, and the hinge is marked 8650-8.

Installation and what it fixes

The hinge strip slots inside the skimmer housing behind the small retaining posts and is secured with one or two screws depending on the setup. The door then floats on a horizontal plane and follows the water level, which is what keeps surface debris flowing into the skimmer. A weir that no longer stays upright, has broken prongs or a worn hinge, lets leaves and bugs drift back out of the throat, and this assembly restores the skimming action.
