⌄The Sta-Rite C176-59PZ is the genuine tank body assembly for the Max-E-Glas II and Dura-Glas II pumps, the series also listed as P4R, P4RA, P4E and P4EA. The tank body is the strainer pot on the front of the pump, and this assembly arrives with the trap cover, cover o-ring and strainer basket already included.
When it is needed
The strainer pot takes the abuse on a pump: freeze expansion, over tightened suction fittings and years of sun. Once it cracks, the pump draws air, loses prime and cavitates, and there is no reliable way to patch it. Replacing the assembly puts a sound pot, a fresh lid and a new basket on the pump in one step.
Fitting notes
The body is held to the seal plate by the tank body V clamp, which is a separate part. Check it for corrosion when the old body comes off. If the diffuser o-ring or the trap cover o-ring on your old pump were the reason it was losing prime, this assembly covers the cover o-ring, and the diffuser o-ring is available separately.
