The Pentair C76-71P is the tank and trap body for the Sta-Rite Dyna-Pro pump. It is the main housing, the casting that holds the strainer basket, takes the suction and discharge plumbing and mates to the seal plate.
When the body is the problem
A trap body gets replaced when it is cracked, when a freeze has split the pot, or when a threaded port or mounting boss has failed. Those are not repairs that hold once the pump is back at pressure. Warped or scored sealing faces are the other reason, and they show up as a leak or a loss of prime that no amount of new lid o-rings will cure.
What carries over
This is the housing on its own. The lid and its o-ring, the strainer basket, the seal plate and the impeller are separate parts, so sound components move across to the new body. It is worth replacing the lid o-ring at the same time while the pump is apart.
