Product details

The Sta-Rite PKG 115 is the complete 5 inch strainer trap assembly for Dura-Glas and Max-E-Glas inground pool and spa pumps. It arrives as a finished unit: the trap body, the lid, the basket, the drain plug and every o-ring, gasket and piece of hardware that goes with them.

Why replace the whole trap

The trap lives under constant suction and takes the brunt of freeze damage, over-tightened lids and years of sun. Once the body itself is cracked or the sealing face is chewed up, sealants and clamps only buy a few weeks. Replacing the assembly gives you fresh sealing surfaces and fresh seals at the same time, which is usually what a stubborn prime problem needs.

This is the 5 inch trap. Measure the pot on your pump before ordering so you are matching the right body, and confirm you have a Dura-Glas or Max-E-Glas.

What it protects

The basket in this trap is the last filter before water reaches the impeller. Keeping it intact and seated properly is what stops leaves and grit from wearing out the wet end.

Do I need this if only the basket is broken?
No. If the pot, lid and seals are all sound you only need a basket. This assembly is for a cracked or badly worn trap, or when several pieces are failing at once.
Why does my pump lose prime?
A cracked trap body, a dried out lid o-ring or a loose drain plug all let air into the suction side. Replacing the whole assembly rules out all three at once.
