Product details

The Pentair 355030 is the high flow diffuser o-ring, a square profile ring measuring 3-1/8 in. outside diameter by 2-3/4 in. inside diameter. It is the genuine Pentair part.

Square, not round

The groove in these pumps is cut for a square cross section. A round o-ring of similar diameter will sit proud, roll under load, and never seal properly, so it is worth ordering the correct part rather than substituting from a drawer of assorted rings.

Which pumps

Pentair Pinnacle High Flow in-ground pumps, SuperFlo, Challenger High Flow and the Sta-Rite SuperMax.

What it does

The diffuser sits over the impeller and turns velocity into pressure. This ring seals it to the housing so all the flow is forced through the impeller eye. When it hardens and flattens, water bypasses the impeller, and the pump loses head while the motor sounds exactly as it always has.

Fitting

Clean the groove, fit the new ring dry into a clean seat, and give it a thin film of silicone o-ring lubricant so it stays put as the pump goes back together.

What are the dimensions?

Can I use a round o-ring of the same size?
No. The groove is cut for a square profile ring. A round seal of similar diameter will not sit correctly and will not hold the diffuser tight to the housing.
What goes wrong when this ring fails?
Water finds its way around the diffuser instead of through the impeller. The motor sounds normal, but the pump loses pressure and the returns weaken.
