What it is for
The pad sits between the motor and what it mounts on. Its job is to soak up the vibration a running motor produces instead of letting it pass straight into the base and the pipework around it.
Worth replacing
Motor pads are easy to overlook. They flatten, crack and sometimes disappear entirely during a motor swap, and the pump ends up sitting hard against its mount and sounding rougher than it should.
