Quick overview

  • Direct replacement Drops into the strainer pot in place of the original C8-58P basket.
  • Three pump families Listed for Sta-Rite IntelliPro, Max-E-Pro and Dura-Glas pumps.
  • Also called B-215 The same basket turns up under B-215 and under C8-58P depending on which catalog you are reading.
  • Plastic construction Molded plastic, matched to the basket it replaces.
  • Protects the impeller The basket is the only thing stopping leaves, hair and grit from reaching the impeller and the shaft seal.
  • Cheap insurance A cracked or collapsed basket lets debris straight through, and the repair on the far side of it costs far more than the basket.

Product details

The Super-Pro 27180-215-000 is a replacement pump strainer basket for Sta-Rite pumps, sold under the model references B-215 and C8-58P. It is molded in plastic and drops into the strainer pot in place of the original.

What it fits

The basket is listed for Sta-Rite IntelliPro, Max-E-Pro and Dura-Glas pumps. If you are not certain which pump is on your pad, compare the old basket to the one in the listing before ordering, since baskets of similar height often differ at the rim and will not seat.

Why it matters

The strainer basket is the last filter before the impeller. Everything the skimmer misses, leaves, hair, twigs and grit, ends up here. Once a basket cracks or its rim splits, that debris passes straight through and reaches the impeller and the shaft seal. Replacing a basket is a few minutes and a small part. Clearing a packed impeller or replacing a seal is neither.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which pumps does this basket fit?
It is listed for Sta-Rite IntelliPro, Max-E-Pro and Dura-Glas pumps. Measure your old basket against the listing before you order if you are unsure which pump you have.
Is B-215 the same basket as C8-58P?
Yes. Both numbers refer to this basket, which is why you will see it called one or the other.
What happens if I run the pump without a basket?
Leaves, hair and grit go straight into the impeller. That means a clogged impeller at best and a damaged seal at worst, so the basket goes back in before the pump runs.
How do I know when a basket needs replacing?
Cracks, a split rim, a warped body that no longer seats flat, or a basket that has started to collapse under suction. Any of those and it is no longer filtering.
