Quick overview

  • Booster pump seal plate The plate that sits between the motor and the wet end on a Waterway booster pump.
  • SuperPro replacement Part number 311-8300, an aftermarket replacement rather than a factory Waterway part.
  • Carries the shaft seal A plate that is cracked or worn at the seal bore will leak no matter how new the seal in it is.
  • Booster pumps work hard A booster runs against high head to drive a pressure cleaner, and the heat that comes with it is what usually finishes a seal plate.
  • Do it with the motor off Replacing the plate means separating the motor from the wet end, so check the bolt pattern and the shaft while it is apart.
  • Order by number Booster pump seal plates look alike across brands, so match 311-8300 rather than going by shape.

Product details

The SuperPro 311-8300 is a replacement seal plate for the Waterway booster pump, the pump that supplies pressure to a pressure side pool cleaner.

What the seal plate does

The seal plate closes off the wet end and bolts to the motor, and the shaft seal rides in the bore at its center. Everything about whether the pump stays dry depends on that bore being round, smooth and undamaged. A plate that has cracked, warped from running dry, or worn where the seal sits will keep leaking however many new seals go into it.

Ordering and fitting

This is a SuperPro aftermarket part, not a Waterway factory one, so match 311-8300 to your parts list rather than judging by appearance. Booster pump plates from different makers look similar and are not interchangeable. Since the motor has to come off the wet end anyway, inspect the shaft, the bolt pattern and the seal faces at the same time.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which pump is this for?
The Waterway booster pump. Match part number 311-8300 against your own parts list before ordering.
Is it a genuine Waterway part?
No. It is a SuperPro replacement seal plate for the Waterway booster pump.
Does it include the shaft seal?
The product data lists the seal plate on its own and does not mention a shaft seal, so plan on sourcing the seal separately.
When does a seal plate need replacing?
When it is cracked, distorted by heat, or worn at the seal bore so a new shaft seal will not seat and hold.
