The Val-Pak V38-131 is a replacement seal plate for American Products Ultra-Flow pumps, the line now carried by Pentair. It replaces original part 39004910 and is molded in black plastic.
What the seal plate does
The seal plate sits between the motor and the volute. It holds the stationary half of the shaft seal and closes the wet end against the motor face, so a cracked or warped plate shows up as a leak between the pump body and the motor. Replacing it restores a flat, true sealing surface for the shaft seal to run against.
Fitting notes
The mounting bolts are molded into the plastic, so they arrive as part of the plate. The shaft seal and the volute o-ring are separate items and are the usual companions to this job, since the same teardown reaches all three. A light coat of silicone o-ring lubricant helps everything seat on reassembly.
