Product details

This is the bottom manifold gasket for Pentair Quantum cartridge filters, supplied by Val-Pak as part number V38-221. It replaces original part 570003.

What it seals

The bottom manifold is what the cartridges seat into at the base of the tank. The gasket between that manifold and its mating face is what forces water through the elements rather than around them, so a flattened, nicked or hardened gasket sends dirty water back to the pool while the pressure gauge still reads normal.

When to change it

Replace it whenever the manifold comes out for a cleaning or a cartridge change, and always if the old gasket is cracked or has taken a permanent set. A gasket costs very little next to the time spent chasing a filter that will not clear the water.

Confirm you have a Quantum filter and that the piece you removed matches, since Pentair cartridge filters use different manifold seals across their families.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What original part does this replace?
Original part number 570003.
Which filter is it for?
The bottom manifold of Pentair Quantum cartridge filters.
My pressure reads normal but the water will not clear. Could this be it?
It can be. A failed manifold gasket lets water bypass the cartridges instead of passing through them, so dirt returns to the pool while the gauge still looks fine.
Should I replace it during a routine cartridge cleaning?
It is the sensible time. The manifold is already out, and a gasket that has gone hard or taken a permanent set will not reseal properly once disturbed.
