What the volute does
The volute is the housing the impeller turns inside. It captures the water thrown off the impeller and routes it to the discharge port, and its sealing face is what the seal plate closes against. A cracked volute, a warped sealing face or damaged threads at the port all show up as leaks or lost pressure, and none of them are worth patching.
Before you order
This is the 2 in port version in plastic. Gaskets and o-rings are not part of the housing, so plan on replacing the pot to volute gasket and the volute o-ring at the same time if the pump has been apart.
