This is the Jacuzzi 5064-18D seal housing for Magnum Plus and Magnum Force pumps in the 1.5 to 3 HP FR and 5 HP UR sizes.
What it does
The seal housing is the plate between the motor and the wet end. It carries the stationary half of the shaft seal, positions the impeller, and bolts up to the motor face. A cracked housing, a corroded seal seat or a distorted mounting face all show up the same way: a pump that weeps from behind the impeller no matter how many new seals go into it.
Making sure it is the right one
Several Jacuzzi housings look alike, so measure before ordering. The maximum outside diameter at the motor side is 7-5/16 inch and the depth front to back is 2-1/4 inch. At the front, the outside diameter is 6-9/16 inch, with nine small holes around the outside and three more on the face. Around the front where the impeller sits there is a raised section about 1/4 inch tall, extending out to the outside screw holes, with a 1/4 by 5/16 inch notch on its outer edge. The inside diameter of that raised section measures 5-1/4 inch.
While you have it apart
A seal housing rarely fails on its own. If you are replacing one, fit a new shaft seal at the same time and inspect the impeller and the o-rings, since the pump is already open and the labor is the expensive part of the job.
