What it does
The bracket ties the motor to the pump housing and carries the clamping load that keeps the two halves together. It is a quiet part in normal service, which is why it tends to be overlooked until the motor starts to move against the housing.
Why it wears out
Equipment pads are damp places and pool chemistry is unforgiving. Brackets corrode from the outside in, thin at the stress points and eventually crack. If the old one comes off in poor condition, look at the mounting nut and ratchet at the same time. Those are separate Jacuzzi parts and there is little point putting new hardware onto a bracket that is already gone, or the reverse.
