Why flow drops

The impeller is what actually moves the water. Debris that gets past the basket packs into its vanes, and years of service wear the vanes themselves down. Either way the symptom is the same: the motor sounds normal, the pot fills, and the returns push far less water than they used to. Cleaning helps if the impeller is just blocked. Once it is worn, only a new one brings the flow back.

Match the horsepower

Impellers are horsepower specific. This one is for the 1hp full rated and 1.5hp uprated build, so check what is stamped on your motor before ordering. Fitting the wrong impeller either overloads the motor or leaves performance on the table.

While the pump is open

The shaft seal has to be disturbed to get the impeller off, so replace it in the same visit. It is the cheapest part of the job and the one that causes a callback if it is reused.
