Product details

This is the Jacuzzi 42377408K standpipe assembly for the Laser 250L bolt on top mount sand filter.

What the standpipe does

The standpipe is the vertical tube running down the middle of the sand bed. Water filtered through the sand collects at the laterals at the bottom, travels up the standpipe and leaves through the valve. If the tube cracks, or the joint at the lateral hub fails, water short circuits the sand bed entirely and sand starts arriving in the pool.

Getting to it

The standpipe is buried in the media, so the sand has to come out to change it. That makes it a job worth combining with a media replacement, and worth using as the moment to inspect every lateral rather than only the one that failed. This part is listed for the Laser 250L, so confirm your tank size, since the shorter Laser models use a different length.

Which filter does this fit?
The Jacuzzi Laser 250L with the bolt on top mount valve. Standpipe length is tied to tank height, so a 160L, 190L or 225L takes a different part.
What is the part number?
The source lists it two ways, 42377408K and 42377408. Both refer to this standpipe assembly. Quote either when you call the manufacturer.
How do I know the standpipe has failed?
Sand in the pool after backwashing, or filtered water that never clears, both point to a crack in the standpipe or a broken lateral below it.
Do I have to empty the sand to replace it?
Yes. The standpipe runs down the center of the sand bed to the laterals, so the media has to come out to reach it. Plan the job as a media change at the same time.
