Product details

The Hayward SX200EB is the genuine drain pipe assembly for Hayward sand filters, supplied with its cap and gasket. It is listed for the S160T, S220 and S245T, and Hayward also references it against the top mount S-190T to S-245T range and the 2-piece top mount S-160T.

What it is for

The drain sits at the base of the filter tank. It is what you open to dump the water out of the tank, which happens at every closing and every time the sand is changed.

Why they fail

These get handled once or twice a year, usually in cold weather and usually in a hurry, and that is exactly how caps get cross threaded and pipes get cracked. Once the drain will not seal, the filter loses pressure and drips continuously at the base of the tank. Replacing the assembly with a fresh cap and gasket is the clean fix rather than trying to tape a damaged thread.
