The SuperPro G-382-9 is the drain cap gasket for Hayward sand filters, sold as the replacement for Hayward part SX180G.

It fits a wide run of Hayward tanks: Pro Series top mount models including the S-140T, S-144T, S-164T, S-166T, S-270T2, S-310T and S-310T2; Pro Series side mount models including the S-210S, S-220S, S-244S, S-310S, S-360S, S-311SX, S-311SXV and S-360SX; the SandMaster SM1700T, SM1900T and SM2300T; the SwimPro SW-196T, SW-236T and SW-256T; and the E-Series Sand E-100, E-200 and E-250.

The leak it fixes

The drain cap sits at the base of the tank and comes off every time the filter is drained, which is usually once a season at closing. The gasket takes that abuse plus a summer of heat, and eventually it hardens and flattens. When water weeps from the bottom cap and tightening does not stop it, the gasket is the part to change.

Is this the same as Hayward SX180G?
It is the SuperPro replacement for it. SuperPro carries the gasket as G-382-9 and it goes where the Hayward SX180G went.

Where does the gasket sit?
On the drain cap at the base of the filter tank, which is the cap you remove to drain the filter.
