Product details

This SuperPro diverter gasket is the replacement for the Pentair PacFab 271148 gasket used in 2 in. top mount multiport backwash valves. SuperPro catalogs it as G-417-9 and lists 271148 as the substitute part number.

What the gasket does

A multiport valve works by pressing a rotor down onto a star shaped gasket. Each arm of the star closes off one port, so turning the handle sends water down the path you selected and blocks the rest. The gasket is the only thing keeping those ports apart.

When to replace it

Rubber takes a set with age and chlorine exposure. Once it flattens, hardens or splits, water leaks between ports, which is why a filter starts pushing water out the waste line while it is set to filter. Replacing the gasket restores the seal.

Size and fit

This gasket measures 6.75 in. in diameter and 0.64 in. thick, for the 2 in. top mount valve. Compare it to the old gasket before fitting, since the 1-1/2 in. valves take a smaller part.
