The Waterway 805-0254 is the diverter valve o-ring, measuring 5-1/2 inches on the inside diameter with a 1/8 inch cross section. It is the genuine Waterway part.
Where it is used
Waterway lists it for the 1-1/2 inch 7 function multiport valves, and it appears on the parts breakdowns for the Carefree and Clearwater sand filters as well as the 1-1/2 inch top mount valve. Waterway also notes it may suit other applications in their range, so the dimensions are worth checking against the ring you are replacing.
What it fixes
This is the seal between the valve body and the parts above it. When the rubber goes hard and takes a set, water starts to weep out at the joint and no amount of tightening the clamp brings it back. A fresh o-ring, lightly lubricated, seats and seals again. It is not the spider gasket, which handles the porting inside the valve and is ordered separately.
