Product details
The Waterway 505-1970 is the plastic collar wrench for split-nut threaded style filters. It fits Waterway TWM, ClearWater and Carefree sand filters.
What it is for
The collar is what holds the multiport valve down on the filter tank. It has to come off for a valve service, a spider gasket, or a sand change, and it has to go back down evenly and tight enough to seal. That is a job with a specific tool, and this is it.
Why plastic
The collar is plastic, and so is the wrench. A screwdriver, a mallet or a pair of pliers takes material off the lugs every time it slips, and a collar with rounded lugs cannot be pulled down square again. From then on it seeps, and the fix is a new collar rather than a new gasket.
